Conversation: Taipei stabbing spree believed to have been premeditated, police say NHK

A: Hey! Did you hear about what happened in Taipei? So scary!

B: No! What happened? Tell me!

A: There was this really awful stabbing attack at Taipei Main Station. So sad.

B: Oh my goodness! Who did that?

A: It was this 27-year-old guy. He threw smoke bombs first, then started attacking people.

B: Wow! How many people…?

A: At least three people died, and eleven were hurt. He later died too, after jumping from a building.

B: That’s terrible! Do they know why he did it?

A: Not really yet. But police think it was planned. He was there for days beforehand!

B: Seriously? He visited the place *before*? That’s… creepy.

A: Yeah, they said he was there on Tuesday and again on Thursday. The President is really worried, too.

B: Oh yeah? What’s he doing about it?

A: He’s sending more police to crowded places. Like, rapid response teams and everything. Just to keep everyone safe.

B: That’s good. Hopefully, it won't happen again. Poor Taiwan!
