Weather officials in Japan say tropical storm Damrey is moving north near the easternmost Japanese island of Minamitorishima in the Pacific. They say it is likely to head further north into Monday, but they believe it will stay off the coasts of the Kanto and Tohoku regions. The officials add that strong winds and high waves are expected along the Pacific coast of northern Japan. Meanwhile, Saola, a very strong typhoon, is slowly advancing southward over the sea east of the Philippines. Authorities say it is likely to head north. Saola is expected to develop into a violent typhoon Tuesday or thereafter. It may come close to the Sakishima Islands, which are located in the Okinawa region. Officials say high waves are expected near the Okinawa region around Tuesday. The sea around the Sakishima Islands is likely to be very rough from around Wednesday. Weather officials are calling on people to get timely information about the two storms.
