Ukrainian commander says long-range Western weapons would win war faster NHK

The Commander of the Ukrainian Navy says the ability to use long-range Western weapons against military targets inside Russia would help Ukraine win the war.

Oleksiy Neizhpapa made the remarks in an interview with Britain's Sky News.

Asked about attacks using long-range missiles provided by Western nations, Neizhpapa replied that the sooner Ukrainian forces have the necessary battle capabilities and the means to destroy the enemy's infrastructure, the sooner they will win.

The United States has provided Ukraine with long-range surface-to-surface missiles known as ATACMS. But US media reports say the US had halved their maximum range before shipment.

The Western nations are apparently trying not to provoke Moscow over the matter.

Meanwhile, Russia's state-run TASS news agency quoted Russian authorities as saying that there have been 220 attacks including arson against facilities such as military registration offices since the start of the military operation nearly two years ago.

The British Defense Ministry attributes the incidents to the public outcry over Moscow's additional mobilization of troops to be sent to fight in Ukraine.
