The administration of US President Donald Trump has announced sanctions on four more officials at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. The US State Department said on Wednesday it will impose sanctions on two judges and two prosecutors, including freezing their assets in the United States. Last November, the ICC issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip. The US department said three of the four officials were designated for ruling to authorize the ICC's issuance of the arrest warrants or for upholding them. The fourth was sanctioned for a ruling to authorize the ICC's investigation into US personnel in Afghanistan. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio criticized the court in a statement, describing it as "a national security threat that has been an instrument for lawfare against the United States and our close ally Israel." In February, Trump signed an executive order authorizing sanctions against the ICC. The State Department announced sanctions on four ICC judges in June. The ICC has 125 members, including Japan and Palestine, but not the United States or Israel. Japanese judge Akane Tomoko is the court's president. ---------------- Quiz 1: On which day did the US State Department announce sanctions on four officials at the International Criminal Court?
