The head of South Korea&#039;s anti-corruption agency says he plans to execute a warrant to detain impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol before it expires on January 6.
                
A joint investigation team obtained the warrant on Tuesday to detain Yoon over his declaration of martial law. The team accuses him of orchestrating an insurrection.
                
Oh Dong-woon, chief of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, or CIO, told reporters on Wednesday that he cannot announce a date, but the agency will execute the warrant.
                
Oh was asked about possible clashes with the presidential security service.
                
He said he can file a case for obstructing public order and other charges, and the CIO sent a document to that effect to the security service on Tuesday.
                
The warrant is the first against an incumbent South Korean president.
                
Yoon&#039;s legal team has called it illegal and invalid, and applied for a provisional injunction, saying the CIO has no right to investigate the president.
