The head of South Korea's anti-corruption agency says he plans to execute a warrant to detain impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol before it expires on January 6. A joint investigation team obtained the warrant on Tuesday to detain Yoon over his declaration of martial law. The team accuses him of orchestrating an insurrection. Oh Dong-woon, chief of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials, or CIO, told reporters on Wednesday that he cannot announce a date, but the agency will execute the warrant. Oh was asked about possible clashes with the presidential security service. He said he can file a case for obstructing public order and other charges, and the CIO sent a document to that effect to the security service on Tuesday. The warrant is the first against an incumbent South Korean president. Yoon's legal team has called it illegal and invalid, and applied for a provisional injunction, saying the CIO has no right to investigate the president.
