   B: No, what's up?

A: They signed this huge deal on Monday! It's all about critical minerals projects, and they're gonna spend billions over the next six months.
   B: Wow, that sounds big! What are those minerals for?

A: Well, they use them in electronics and electric motors. For example, gallium is used in microwave circuits and some types of LEDs.
   B: Oh, cool! I didn't know that. And why do they need it so much?

A: China has been restricting the exports of those minerals, including rare earth elements. So, they want to have their own sources.
   B: That makes sense. By the way, what about that deal with Australia for those underwater vehicles?

A: Yeah, Australia is gonna buy $1.2 billion worth of autonomous underwater vehicles from a defense startup called Anduril. But it's not clear if it's a new deal or part of an older one. They already announced that they would get some Ghost Shark AUVs in September.
   B: Interesting! Seems like there are a lot of tech collaborations happening between the U.S. and Australia lately.
