Panasonic has developed and installed a renewable energy system to provide electricity to its factory in the UK. The Japanese electronics maker plans to market the system to other companies operating in the country. Panasonic says the mechanism will provide all the electricity used at the microwave oven assembly plant in Cardiff. It generates power from solar panels that is fed to storage batteries. Fuel cells also provide electricity using green hydrogen from carbon-neutral sources. Panasonic President and CEO Shinada Masahiro says the key factor in the system is it efficiently provides electricity using different energy sources. Shinada said, "We hope this energy management system will meet the needs of the UK factory." The company aims to market the product to other companies and targets sales of around 100 billion yen, or 670 million dollars, in the 2030s.
