In the men&#039;s FIFA World Cup, there was another big surprise when Morocco became the first African and Arab country to reach the semi-finals by beating Portugal 1-0.
                
Portugal created more chances than Morocco in the match at Thumama Stadium, but Youssef En-Nesyri&#039;s header in the 42nd minute gave his team the lead.
                
Later, Portugal sent on icon Cristiano Ronaldo in the 51st minute. He attempted to attack but was denied by Morocco&#039;s goalkeeper.
With the overwhelming support of the crowd, Morocco held on despite being down a man.
It was likely the end of the road for Ronaldo, who was playing in his fifth World Cup.
                
Meanwhile, football fans in Arab and African nations united to share in the excitement of Morocco&#039;s historic victory.
After the final whistle, they exploded in joy by waving flags, singing and dancing.
The celebrations were seen from the Gaza Strip to Tunisia.
Nabil Hamdi, a Moroccan living in Tunis, said that they made history today for all the Arabs and Africans.
He added that he hopes the Morocco will win the World Cup.
