Zelenskyy condemns Russia for deadly missile attack in Uman NHK

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has strongly condemned Moscow after confirming 23 deaths in the city of Uman due to a Russian missile attack.

Ukrainian authorities completed search and rescue operations in Uman, central Ukraine, on Saturday. They said 17 people were rescued from a heavily damaged residential building, and that the dead include six children from the ages of one to 17.

People in the city laid flowers to pay their respects to the victims. Three days of mourning have been declared in the Cherkasy region, where the city is located.

Zelenskyy expressed his condolences to the victims and their relatives in a video message released on Saturday.

He condemned those who launch and guide missiles as well as those "who handle planes and ships for terror." He added, "Not only those who give orders but all of you, you are all terrorists and murderers and you must all be punished."

Zelenskyy reiterated the call to hold such people accountable by creating what he calls a tribunal for crimes of Russian aggression. He said Russia must fully answer for everything it has done.

The Ukrainian president also revealed that his country is preparing new sanctions against foreign companies whose supplies can help Russia extend its invasion.
