Trump indicted for alleged attempt to overturn 2020 election loss in Georgia NHK

Former US President Donald Trump has been indicted in Georgia for allegedly trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election result in the state.

A Georgia grand jury issued the indictment on Monday, listing 19 defendants including Trump and attorney Rudy Giuliani.

This is the fourth set of criminal charges against the former president since March. He has been indicted for allegedly conspiring to defraud the US by preventing Congress from certifying the victory of Democratic candidate Joe Biden in the presidential election.

Trump also faces charges of violating the Espionage Act for illegally retaining documents, including highly classified information on military capabilities, at his home after leaving office.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and indicated that he will fight them in court.
