People in Thailand on Sunday will mark one month since a knife and gun rampage left 36 people dead at a childcare center. Life seems to have returned to normal in the quiet northeastern town where the incident occurred. But victims&#039; families are still struggling to come to terms with their loss.
                
The childcare center remains closed. Local people have left sweets and milk in memory of their loved ones. The glass on the front door is shattered.
                
Uthai Sawan sub-district office chief Danaichoke Boonsom said, &quot;The atmosphere of the village has changed. The people are frightened. They are afraid the crime might happen again.&quot;
                
Thongjai Duangkamchan lost her 3-year-old grandson. His favorite toys and photos are a reminder of his cheerful personality and their precious time together. She and her husband are still trying to cope with their grief.
                
She said, &quot;Whatever he did was cute because I have only one grandson. I miss him. I miss him every day.&quot;
                
Another 3-year-old survived. Kritsakorn was badly wounded and needed surgery. He was discharged from a hospital earlier this week.  But he lost his mother in the incident. And his father has not been able to tell him of her death.
                
He said, &quot;My son still doesn&#039;t know. Sometimes he asks for mom, but I can&#039;t tell him.&quot;
