Japanese ace pitcher Senga Kodai has reached a deal to join the Major League Baseball team, the New York Mets.
                
On its official website, the MLB quoted a source as saying that the two sides have agreed on a five-year, 75-million-dollar deal.
                
The 29-year-old right hander played for the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, where he racked up more than 10 wins for seven seasons in a row.
                
He is currently a free agent. His agent in the US earlier said between six and 12 teams had expressed an interest in him.
                
The Mets marked 101 wins this season and advanced to the National League wild-card round for the first time in six years, but were eliminated by the San Diego Padres.
                
The Mets lost star starter Jacob deGrom, a two-time Cy Young winner, to the Texas Rangers, but acquired 39-year old Justin Verlander, who leads all active pitchers with 244 career victories.
                
By adding Senga to its roster, the Mets will have a solid rotation of starters.
