The US government says it will send a new military aid package to Ukraine worth 300 million dollars.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Tuesday said the funding came from unanticipated cost savings in Pentagon contracts.
Sullivan noted the aid would keep Ukrainian guns firing only temporarily.
This comes as funds for US assistance to Ukraine have run out as Congress is divided over additional funding for the country.
It is the first US military aid for Kyiv announced since last December. Sullivan said the package will include artillery rounds and munitions for HIMARS artillery rocket systems.
