A: Hey! Did you hear about the medical team that just got back from Sri Lanka?

B: No way! What happened?

A: A huge cyclone hit Sri Lanka. It was really bad – over 600 people died.

B: Oh my gosh, that's terrible! What did Japan do?

A: A team of about 30 Japanese doctors and nurses went to help! They were sent by JICA.

B: Wow! Where did they go?

A: To a town called Chilaw. It was badly damaged. They were there for almost two weeks.

B: Did they help a lot of people?

A: They treated over 1,255 patients! Can you imagine?

B: That's incredible! The Sri Lankan ambassador was there to greet them, right?

A: Yeah! He said they showed so much compassion and helped people feel connected.

B: That's so heartwarming! I heard the local hospitals couldn’t handle it when the team arrived.

A: Exactly! They started seeing patients right away. They did X-rays and blood tests, everything they could.

B: The news said a lot of land was flooded and so many people were affected.

A: True! About 20% of Sri Lanka was covered in water and 2.3 million people were impacted.

B: That's just awful. But it's great that Japan was able to send help.

A: Totally! The team leader said it was amazing to see patients' faces light up after getting help. It really made a difference.
