Days of heavy rain, flooding and landslides in South Korea have left at least 22 people dead. Downpours have pounded wide areas of the country since Thursday, from South Chungcheong Province in the west to North Gyeongsang Province in the east. The South Korean meteorological administration warned of further heavy rains. The country's disaster countermeasure headquarters said victims included people who died in landslides or after being swept away in rivers. The total of missing people was 14 as of 6 p.m. Saturday, local time. President Yoon Suk-yeol, who is on an overseas trip, ordered Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to make every effort for disaster prevention. The meteorological administration predicted more rain until early next week as seasonal weather lingers. Weather officials also said overflowing rivers and landslides remain a threat.
