1. Protests against the Indonesian government over lawmaker allowances and other issues have been ongoing since August 25, with more than 10 deaths reported so far. 2. The death of a ride-hailing motorbike driver on August 28 by a police armored vehicle has further fueled protests. 3. Despite efforts to defuse the tension, including the dismissal of one officer involved in the driver's death and repairs to damaged infrastructure in Jakarta, public anger remains high with protestors continuing to call for appropriate wages and other demands.
