Japan's Prime Minister Kishida Fumio arrived in India on Monday morning for talks with his counterpart Narendra Modi. Kishida will meet Modi later in the day for the fourth time. He last visited India a year ago. The Japanese prime minister is expected to stress the importance of international order based on the rule of law and to call for cooperation in dealing with the situation in Ukraine. Japan holds the Group of Seven presidency this year, while India is the chair of the Group of 20 economies. India is also said to be playing a leading role among the emerging and developing nations collectively known as the Global South. Those countries are taking a neutral stance on Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Kishida is also scheduled to give a speech at a think tank. He plans to unveil a concrete plan to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific -- a vision advocated by Japan.
