Bali flights canceled after Indonesian volcano erupts NHK

A: Hey there! Got any news?

B: Not really, why?

A: Well, did you hear about the volcano in Indonesia? It's causing some trouble for people over there.

B: No, I didn't. Tell me more!

A: So, there's this volcano called Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki on Flores Island. It erupted yesterday, creating a massive ash cloud that reached 10 kilometers high!

B: Wow, that sounds intense! Where's that exactly?

A: It's in eastern Indonesia, near an island called Bali. Because of the eruption, they had to cancel more than two dozen flights going to and from Bali.

B: That must be disrupted for the people there. Are people safe?

A: The authorities have raised the alert status to its highest level, warning about the risk of volcanic mudflows in rivers. However, no casualties have been reported yet. But streets are coated in ash and gravel from the eruption.

B: That's scary! Did they evacuate anyone?

A: Yes, residents from two nearby villages had to leave their homes due to the eruption.

B: I hope it calms down soon. This must be a headache for those affected flights-wise.

A: Absolutely! As of Wednesday, over 30 international and domestic flights to and from Bali's airport were canceled. Flights from places like Singapore, Australia, and India are included in this list.
