Relief supplies sent by the Japanese government have arrived in Syria following last week's devastating earthquakes. The relief goods, including blankets and tents, arrived at an airport in the capital, Damascus, on Wednesday. The Japanese government sent them at the request of the Syrian government. The items will be delivered to affected areas through the Red Crescent Society in the country. The Japanese Embassy in Syria says the Japanese side asked Syria to make sure the supplies reach areas controlled by anti-government forces in the country's northwest. Embassy officials say the Syrian side pledged cooperation and expressed gratitude for Japan's support.
