Britain&#039;s defense ministry says over 860,000 Russian military personnel have been killed or wounded since Russia invaded Ukraine.
        
                    
                  
The ministry released its intelligence update on Ukraine on Monday, the third anniversary of the invasion.
        
                    
                  
According to the update, the substantial number of casualties have undermined the quality of the Russian forces and most personnel currently serving in the military have received minimal training.
        
                    
                  
But the ministry said &quot;the Russian forces have been able to impose constant pressure on the Ukrainian defences,&quot; and that &quot;Russian territorial advances in Ukraine accelerated through 2024, although have slowed in early 2025.&quot;
        
                    
                  
It said Russia&#039;s &quot;continued attacks have been underpinned by the Russian leadership&#039;s tolerance for casualties,&quot; and the &quot;land forces&#039; quantitative overmatch relative to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.&quot;
