Djokovic wins French Open, clinching 23rd Grand Slam title NHK

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has claimed a record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam singles title by winning the French Open on Sunday.

Djokovic, number three in the ATP rankings, faced off against fourth ranking Casper Ruud of Norway. Ruud was appearing in the final for the second straight year.

Djokovic took the first set 7-6 following a tiebreak, and the second and third sets 6-3 and 7-5, respectively.

He tied Spain's Rafael Nadal at 22 Grand Slam titles by winning the Australian Open title in January.

With his victory at the French Open, Djokovic now stands alone at the pinnacle of men's tennis.

Speaking to reporters, Djokovic said he doesn't want to claim he is the greatest male player in history because each great champion has left a legacy and paved way for the next generation.
