Japanese opposition parties have agreed to call on the ruling parties for sufficient deliberation on policies of the incoming administration of Ishiba Shigeru before the Lower House is dissolved for a general election. Ishiba was elected president of the main ruling Liberal Democratic Party on Friday. He will form his new Cabinet after being elected as Japan's 102nd prime minister in both chambers of an extraordinary Diet session on Tuesday. Ishiba is making arrangements to dissolve the Lower House on October 9. Voting in the resultant election is likely to take place on October 27. The Diet affairs chiefs of the opposition parties, including the Constitutional Democratic Party, Japan Innovation Party, Japanese Communist Party, Democratic Party for the People and Reiwa Shinsengumi, met on Monday. They said Ishiba's policies should be sufficiently deliberated at the budget committees of both chambers of the Diet before dissolution of the Lower House. The opposition parties also agreed to call on the government to compile a supplementary budget bill for deliberation in the extraordinary Diet session. This would help the quake-hit Noto region that has also recently been battered by heavy rains. The opposition Diet affairs chiefs affirmed they will ask again for LDP members suspected of falsifying political funds reports to testify in front of the political ethics panel, if they have not already done so.
