US media: Japanese ace pitcher Yamamoto to join LA Dodgers NHK

US media outlets are reporting that Japanese ace pitcher Yamamoto Yoshinobu has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The reports say Yamamoto's contract is for 12 years and worth 325 million dollars.

The 25-year-old right-hander was a starter for Japan's Orix Buffaloes for 7 years. Over the past three seasons, he dominated Japanese pro baseball, leading all pitchers in wins, strikeouts and earned run average.

Yamamoto won the Sawamura Award as Japan's best pitcher for the three years, and has been aiming to join Major League Baseball.

Yamamoto was sought after by many MLB teams, including the New York Yankees.

Now, Yamamoto appears set to team up with Japanese star Ohtani Shohei, who recently joined the Dodgers.
