The head of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Jens Stoltenberg, says NATO will continue to strengthen its partnership with Japan. The NATO secretary general visited Iruma Air Base of Japan's Air Self-Defense Force near Tokyo on Tuesday. He observed a C-2 transport aircraft that last year delivered relief supplies for Ukrainians who fled Russia's invasion of their country. Stoltenberg made a speech before about 70 personnel of the base. He said, "The war in Ukraine demonstrates that our security is closely interconnected." He also said that if Russian President Vladimir Putin wins in Ukraine, it will send a very dangerous message to authoritarian leaders all over the world that when they use military force, they can achieve their goals. He added, "We live in a more dangerous and more unpredictable world. And then we need strong partnerships between countries and alliances that believe in democracy and freedom."
