The chairman of Taiwanese electronics giant Hon Hai Precision Industry, also known as Foxconn, said his firm is in talks with French automaker Renault, the largest shareholder in Japan's Nissan Motor. Taiwanese media say Hon Hai Chairman Young Liu told reporters on Wednesday that his company and Renault have discussed cooperation. He stressed that purchasing Nissan's shares, although that was discussed, is not the aim; the aim is cooperation with Renault. It has been revealed that Hon Hai in the past had considered taking part in Nissan's management by acquiring the automaker's shares. Nissan has been engaged in merger talks with Honda Motor. But Nissan rejected a proposal to become a wholly owned subsidiary of Honda, and the negotiations are expected to end as early as Thursday.
