As India&#039;s general election approaches, the country&#039;s opposition camp has received a major blow. One of its leaders, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, had his plea challenging his arrest dismissed by the Delhi High Court.
                
Kejriwal was arrested last month for his alleged involvement in a corruption case over liquor policy.
Officials say Kejriwal&#039;s Aam Aadmi Party or AAP received kickbacks from liquor businesses in exchange for favorable treatment.
                
The court noted on Tuesday that authorities provided sufficient material justifying the arrest and remand. But Kejriwal has pledged to appeal with the Supreme Court.
                
Opposition parties and their supporters have been holding protests against the government.
                
They&#039;re accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of suppressing political opponents by using investigative agencies, ahead of the general election.
                
AAP is part of the opposition alliance challenging Modi&#039;s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP.
                
Voting is scheduled to start next week and will continue to June.
