In Major League Baseball, Japanese two-way star Ohtani Shohei slugged a two-run homer in the final game for his Los Angeles Angels before the All-Star break.
                
Ohtani started as a designated hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. He hit a single in the first inning and a triple in the third.
                
And in his fourth at-bat in the seventh, Ohtani smashed a low breaking ball to grab a two-run homer. It was his 32nd of the season, keeping him at the top of the league for home runs.
He had a sacrifice fly in his last at-bat, missing a chance to hit for the cycle. The Angels lost to the Dodgers 5-10.
Ohtani will be at the All-Star Game on Tuesday as a designated hitter for the American League.
                
In the National League, Japanese pitcher Senga Kodai of the New York Mets has been added to the All-Star team.  Senga joined the Mets this season from Japan&#039;s Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks.
                
He has seven wins and five losses, scoring 113 strikeouts.  Senga is the eighth Japanese player to be selected as an All-Star player as a rookie.
