In Major League Baseball, Japanese two-way star Ohtani Shohei slugged a two-run homer in the final game for his Los Angeles Angels before the All-Star break. Ohtani started as a designated hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. He hit a single in the first inning and a triple in the third. And in his fourth at-bat in the seventh, Ohtani smashed a low breaking ball to grab a two-run homer. It was his 32nd of the season, keeping him at the top of the league for home runs. He had a sacrifice fly in his last at-bat, missing a chance to hit for the cycle. The Angels lost to the Dodgers 5-10. Ohtani will be at the All-Star Game on Tuesday as a designated hitter for the American League. In the National League, Japanese pitcher Senga Kodai of the New York Mets has been added to the All-Star team. Senga joined the Mets this season from Japan's Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. He has seven wins and five losses, scoring 113 strikeouts. Senga is the eighth Japanese player to be selected as an All-Star player as a rookie.
