A Japanese man found at a fraud center in Myanmar has been transferred to Thailand and is expected to be extradited to Japan. On Tuesday afternoon, the 36-year-old man was transported in a van prepared by the Japanese embassy in Bangkok. The car was guided by the Thai police, crossing the border into Mae Sot, western Thailand. The man was taken to a government facility, apparently to check on his health and look into details, such as why he went to Myanmar. He had been detained by the Myanmar authorities after being found at the scam center late last month. Multiple sources say the man is believed to have been working at a fraud center run by a Chinese criminal group. They say he claims he only worked in the office. Japanese police in the northern prefecture of Hokkaido have an arrest warrant for him on suspicion of theft. This comes as more than 7,000 foreign nationals have been removed from scam centers since January. Thai authorities say over 2,700 of them have been repatriated to their home countries. Hundreds of others are set to be deported this week, including many Indonesians.
