The United States announced on Tuesday another military assistance to Ukraine worth 2.6 billion dollars. The aid includes additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, or HIMARS, and more Patriot surface-to-air missiles.

In Moscow, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting of top military officials on Tuesday that "the North Atlantic bloc is strengthening its anti-Russia course, which is leading to an escalation of the conflict."

Russian President Vladimir Putin is to meet his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko in Moscow on Wednesday.

Their meeting comes one day after Finland joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization on Tuesday.

They are scheduled to take part in another meeting on the following day where the proposed integration of Russia and Belarus will be high on the agenda.
