Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov says Friday's acrimonious US-Ukraine summit showed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's "complete lack of diplomatic skills."



Russia's state-run Tass news agency on Monday quoted Peskov as saying the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Zelenskyy was an "unprecedented event."



The discussions between the two leaders turned into a heated spat over their diplomatic stances regarding Russia. The meeting ended without the signing of an agreement.



Peskov said the spat between Trump and Zelenskyy proved that Russian President Vladimir Putin was right on the Ukrainian issue.



Peskov said Russia will continue its special military operation in Ukraine while trying to mend ties with the United States.



On Sunday, leaders from European countries agreed at a meeting in London to strengthen military support for Ukraine. Peskov said this agreement is "not aimed at peace, but at continuing the war."
