Philippine media outlets say a woman in the country has confessed to killing her Filipino sister and Japanese niece. The bodies of the victims were found buried in the grounds of the woman&#039;s home.
                
On Sunday, the outlets quoted police as saying that the woman had confessed. She reportedly admitted that she had conspired with her husband and two other people to stab and beat the two relatives to death.
                
The woman is in a hospital. She attempted to take her own life on Friday. Her husband remains unaccounted for. The police have been investigating the couple since Thursday, when the corpses were discovered buried in the backyard of their house in the northern province of Quezon.
                
The remains were later confirmed to be those of a 26-year-old Japanese national, Motegi Mai, and her 54-year-old Filipino mother, Lorry Litada.
                
The victims were reportedly residents of Japan. The police say they were visiting the Philippines and were reported missing last month.
                
A suitcase that is believed to have belonged to them was discovered on a river bank roughly 5 kilometers from where their bodies were found. The luggage contained blood-stained items.
                
Philippine media outlets cited police as saying the mother and daughter were carrying 5 million Philippine pesos, or about 90,000 dollars, in cash, as they wanted to buy property. But the money is reportedly missing. The outlets also say police suspect the victims had financial issues with the woman and her husband.
