Iran president makes no criticism of US in military parade speech NHK

Iran held a military parade in the capital Tehran on Friday to commemorate its armed forces. The Iranian president usually criticizes the United States and Israel by name in their speech, but that did not happen this time.

President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iranian forces are brave and do not allow enemies to easily penetrate the country.

He added he is proud that his country's military has now made progress in manufacturing all necessary equipment on its own.

The parade featured missiles, drones and tanks.

Senior officials of Iran and the US held talks over Tehran's nuclear program last week. Both sides described the meeting as "constructive."

The second round of talks is scheduled for Saturday.

Observers say that Pezeshkian may have avoided provoking Washington ahead of the upcoming talks.
