US media reports say the social media platform X has agreed to pay about 10 million dollars to settle a lawsuit filed by President Donald Trump over the suspension of his account. Social media companies suspended Trump's accounts on their platforms after the siege of the US Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Trump argued that social media operators were suppressing free speech and sued those companies, including Facebook and Twitter, now called Meta Platforms and X, in July of that year. The Wall Street Journal is among multiple US media outlets that reported X's latest move to settle with Trump on Wednesday. The report says Trump's team considered letting the lawsuit fizzle out as Elon Musk, who heads X, helped Trump win the presidential race by providing significant financial support. US tech giants have been working to improve relations with Trump. Meta has already agreed to pay about 25 million dollars to settle a similar lawsuit.
