Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has met with US President-elect Donald Trump in the state of Florida. His visit follows Trump's pledge earlier in the week to impose sweeping tariffs on Canada and Mexico.
Trudeau arrived in Florida on Friday and later met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence.
The Associated Press quoted a person familiar with the details as saying they had a "positive wide-ranging dinner that lasted three hours." The official reportedly said the two discussed trade, border security, defense and Ukraine among other topics.
On Monday, Trump said that upon his inauguration, he would sign documents as one of his first executive orders to impose a 25-percent tariff on all products from Canada and Mexico.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum has also held talks with Trump. In a social media post on Wednesday, she said they had an "excellent" conversation.
