Ukrainian media reported on Monday that a new homegrown long-range drone missile was used to strike a Russian military target in occupied Crimea last month.
                
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy referred to a new weapon used in the attack in late August, but did not disclose any details.
                
Ukrainian media said several dozen Russian military airfields are within the new drone missile&#039;s range. Ukraine has been hampered by Western nations&#039; unwillingness to let it use their long-range weapons against Russia.
                
Meanwhile, Russia&#039;s defense ministry announced on Monday that its troops took control of the village of Skuchne in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk.
                
Ukraine apparently hopes its cross-border incursion into Russia will help tamp down Russian offensives in eastern Ukraine.
                
But on Monday, Russia&#039;s President Vladimir Putin said Russian troops are advancing faster in eastern Ukraine than they have done for a long time.
                
Ukraine&#039;s State Emergency Service said on Tuesday that a woman and her child were killed in a Russian attack in Zaporizhzhia in southern Ukraine. It also said that one person was killed and six others wounded in a missile attack in Dnipro in eastern Ukraine.
