Japanese Foreign Minister Kamikawa Yoko has met Ukraine&#039;s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, conveying Tokyo&#039;s unwavering stance to continue supporting the country.
                
The meeting took place on Sunday for about an hour.
                
At the start of the talks, Zelenskyy expressed sincere condolences over the recent earthquake on the Noto Peninsula in central Japan.
                
He thanked Japan for its assistance to Ukraine. He also expressed his hope for further support from the public and private sectors at the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promotion of Economic Reconstruction to be held in Japan in February.
                
Kamikawa conveyed Japan&#039;s firm stance of standing with Ukraine.
                
Before the meeting, Kamikawa met Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. She said Tokyo seeks to have more than 10 agreements signed at next month&#039;s conference.
                
Kamikawa later inspected activities of the United Nations Children&#039;s Fund, which provides support to children in conflict zones.
                
Kamikawa&#039;s visit comes as some observers point to &quot;fatigue&quot; among Western countries in their support for Ukraine.
                
The foreign minister told reporters that as international concerns about Ukraine are said to have declined, she could show to the world Japan&#039;s unwavering stance of supporting the realization of lasting peace through her visit.
                
She said she will continue to make diplomatic efforts to back Ukraine.
