The Ukrainian chamber of commerce in Japan has launched a project to help Ukrainian companies find Japanese partners to contribute to rebuilding Ukraine.
The chamber of commerce signed a memorandum with Ukraine's foreign ministry concerning the project on Wednesday in Tokyo. The chamber of commerce was established by Ukrainians living in Japan and others, and has corporate members from the two countries.
The memorandum stipulates that the chamber of commerce and the foreign ministry will collaborate in six areas.
One area of collaboration is promoting technological transfer to Ukraine by working with Japanese companies. Another is providing support for small and medium-sized Ukrainian companies to explore the Japanese market and find customers through the online platform operated by the ministry.
More than 2,500 Ukrainian businesses such as those in the IT, construction and agriculture industries have registered with the platform. The chamber of commerce expects it can efficiently support the matching of these Ukrainian companies with Japanese partners.
Ukraine's ambassador to Japan, Sergiy Korsunsky, said: "The war is going to end. We very much hope that it will happen this year. So right after, we need very powerful push in reconstruction." He expressed hope to strengthen partnerships between companies through the project.
The president of the Ukrainian chamber of commerce in Japan, Kateryna Yavorska, said, "Japan has a lot of technologies" and "a huge experience about rebuilding." Yavorska said, "We want to connect those companies in Japan" with "Ukrainian companies who need that technology and experience."
