Nearly two weeks have passed since a magnitude-7.7 earthquake rocked central Myanmar on March 28. Fighting reportedly continues between the military and pro-democracy forces, despite both sides declaring a ceasefire.



The military says the quake has left more than 3,600 people dead and more than 5,000 injured. Over 140 are still unaccounted for.



Both sides in the conflict announced a ceasefire last week. But the fighting reportedly goes on in some parts of the country.



The pro-democracy side says the junta has conducted more than 90 artillery attacks and airstrikes, some near the quake's epicenter in the northwestern Sagaing region, with 72 people reportedly killed.



The junta says some of its bases and vessels have come under attack.



Relief efforts are ongoing in the face of stiff headwinds. An aircraft of Japan's Air Self-Defense Force arrived in Mandalay on Wednesday to deliver medicine and other supplies.



A team of more than 30 Japanese medical workers has set up a makeshift clinic to provide care.



People are facing severe shortages of life-saving essentials, like medicine and drinking water. UNICEF says the risk of infectious diseases is spreading, and it is calling on the international community to provide immediate support.
