Japan's largest steelmaker, Nippon Steel, has faced opposition to its plans to buy the iconic company US Steel. Now, it has come up with another pledge to show its commitment. In December, the company announced a plan to buy US Steel for about 14 billion dollars. However, union members opposed the deal, as did both the current and former American presidents. Joe Biden said US Steel should remain domestically owned. Donald Trump promised to block the deal. According to a document released by both companies on Monday, Nippon Steel will relocate its US headquarters from Houston to Pittsburgh, where US Steel is based. The company reiterated its promise to keep the company's name, employees and facilities. It says it is "committed to Pennsylvania" and that the state will be home to a "world-leading steelmaker."
