Chinese President Xi Jinping has told Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin that Beijing hopes for stronger ties with Moscow as they mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year. Xi met Mishustin in the Chinese capital on Wednesday. Xi said bilateral trade surpassed 200 billion dollars in the first 11 months of this year, achieving the annual volume target jointly set by him and Russian President Vladimir Putin a year earlier than they had aimed for. Xi also expressed hope for making the 75th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties next year a new starting point to further expand the positive impacts of the high-level political relations between the countries. Russia's state-run Tass news agency reported that Mishustin noted 80 joint projects worth about 220 billion dollars are underway in the two countries. The agency also quoted him as saying that more than 90 percent of payments were made in rubles and yuan, not dollars. Beijing and Moscow have held a series of high-level talks to strengthen cooperation in the political and economic fields after Russia's invasion of Ukraine, in an apparent bid to counter the United States, with which both countries remain at odds.
