Foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations have kicked off talks in Indonesia, where they're focusing on the ongoing turmoil in Myanmar. This month marks two years since the military took power in a coup. The two-day meeting in Jakarta will focus on how the neighboring countries can push the junta to implement their peace plan, the Five Point Consensus. But there are differing stances among the ASEAN members. Indonesia and Singapore have taken a hard line against the junta, while Thailand and Cambodia have been more conciliatory. The Five-Point Consensus calls for an immediate halt to the violence, and sending a special envoy to mediate dialogue between pro-democracy groups and the military. The junta agreed to the plan in 2021, but it is clearly not working.
