The administration of US President Joe Biden has approved the possible sale to Taiwan of infrared search tracking systems for F16 fighter jets. The administration notified Congress of the approval on Wednesday. The deal could be worth up to 500 million dollars. The State Department says the proposed sale will improve Taiwan's capability to meet current and future threats, and increase interoperability with the US. Chinese forces have been stepping up military activities near Taiwan. Fighter jets frequently cross the median line of the Taiwan Strait and enter the airspace around Taiwan.
