A live streamer was killed on a street in Tokyo in the middle of a live broadcast. Investigators say a 42-year-old man allegedly stabbed her repeatedly. Tokyo police have a view that the crime was allegedly driven by one-sided resentment. Sato Airi, a 22-year-old resident of Tokyo's Tama City, was suddenly stabbed by a man on the street in the Takadanobaba area in Shinjuku Ward on Tuesday morning. She sustained knife wounds to her head, neck and stomach, and died soon after being transported to a hospital. The police arrested a man on the spot on suspicion of attempted murder. He is identified as Takano Kenichi, a resident of Oyama City in Tochigi Prefecture, north of Tokyo. Police later changed the charge to murder. Investigators say surveillance camera footage and other information indicated that the suspect stabbed Sato dozens of times with his survival knife. Takano told investigators that he came to Tokyo because he saw Sato announcing that she would broadcast live video during a walk along the Yamanote Line. He said he located her from her live video. The investigators also say the suspect said he had lent Sato more than 2 million yen, or about 13, 600 dollars, to cover her cell phone fees and other spending for the time being, but she did not pay him back. He is said to deny that he intended to kill her.
