The Israeli military claims to have arrested and interrogated hundreds of people suspected of involvement in terror activities.
Israel Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari said on Thursday that the military and the domestic security agency Shin Bet made the arrests and conducted interrogations.
Hagari added that many have also surrendered over the past day, and that the intelligence being gathered from the questioning serves the Israeli forces in their continued fight against Hamas.
Photos and video posted on social media purportedly show men who have surrendered to Israeli forces in Gaza.
Many are seen sitting in rows on a street, stripped down to their underwear. One photo shows a group of blindfolded men with their hands tied behind their backs.
It is not known when and where the images were taken. Israeli media say some of the men appear to be Hamas militants who had given themselves up.
A Swiss-based human rights organization is accusing the Israeli military of detaining and severely abusing dozens of Palestinian civilians in northern Gaza.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor says it has received reports that Israeli forces launched "random and arbitrary arrest campaigns against displaced people." It says those detained include doctors, academics, journalists and elderly men.
