The Norwegian Nobel Institute says Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado will not attend the award ceremony for the Peace Prize in Oslo.
The secretariat of the institute on Wednesday spoke to NHK about this year&#039;s winner.
Machado&#039;s daughter, Ana Corina Sosa, is scheduled to attend the ceremony on behalf of her mother and read her speech.
Norwegian public broadcaster NRK quoted the institute as saying that it has been more demanding than expected to transport Machado to Norway safely.
Machado earlier expressed her intention to attend the ceremony.
But a news conference that she was expected to attend was canceled on Tuesday.
Media reports say the administration of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will consider Machado a &quot;fugitive&quot; if she leaves the country.
