US President Donald Trump says the 10-percent baseline tariff will basically remain in place on all countries, even after trade deals are reached.
        
                    
                  
A minimum baseline levy of 10 percent on all countries went into effect on April 5. On Thursday, the US announced a trade deal with Britain, bringing down the levy on its vehicles from the current 25 percent to the 10 percent minimum.
        
                    
                  
Trump told reporters on Friday that &quot;there could be an exception at some point&quot; but that a baseline of a 10 percent minimum will basically be maintained regardless of trade deals.
        
                    
                  
Trump also said that he foresees four or five more trade deals &quot;coming immediately&quot; with other countries.
        
                    
                  
In a social media post on Friday, Trump said that an &quot;80% Tariff on China seems right,&quot; suggesting he could lower the figure from the current additional 145 percent imposed on Chinese goods.
        
                    
                  
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt later said at a news conference that Trump will not unilaterally bring down tariffs on China. She added, &quot;We need to see concessions from them as well.&quot;
