Myanmar's state-run TV has reported that the ruling military announced a temporary ceasefire against pro-democracy forces and ethnic minority groups from Wednesday until April 22. The military maintains it aims to speed up relief and reconstruction efforts in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake that hit the country on Friday. The National Unity Government, Myanmar's pro-democracy camp, said in a statement on Saturday that it will stop fighting for two weeks. State-run TV also reported on Wednesday that the death toll from the jolt has reached 3,003 and 4,515 people were injured. It said 351 others remain unaccounted for.
