China's new car sales jumped in November from a year earlier, driven by the popularity of so-called new energy vehicles and a rebound from a slump triggered by coronavirus infections. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers says 2.97 million new vehicles were sold in the country last month. That's up 27.4 percent year-on-year. Sales of new energy vehicles, including electric cars, surged 30 percent from the same month last year. The category accounted for 34.5 percent of the total. Another contributing factor was the recovery from reduced sales in November last year, when coronavirus infections surged. Japanese makers' sales also rose in the Chinese market during the month. Nissan's sales shot up 56.1 percent, Honda logged a jump of 36.5 percent and Toyota saw a 17.2 percent rise.
