People across India have celebrated the arrival of spring at Hindu temples, turning the air into an array of colors. The spring festival of Holi is known as a colorful event when people spatter each other with colored powders and dyed water. At a temple in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, a crowd was seen throwing red and yellow powder and water colored by dried flowers. Many see the festival as an opportunity in which they can deepen friendships regardless of their social position or age. One participant said "There is no discrimination and everyone is coming all together, so that's a good part in the end and whatever you say there are no fights." Holi is celebrated by millions of Hindus across India, and is popular with foreign tourists who come to witness a joyful time of singing and dance.
