Russian missile strikes injure 10 in Donetsk, Ukraine interior minister says NHK

Ukrainian interior minister Ihor Klymenko says 10 people, including children, have been injured in Russian missile strikes in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.

Klymenko wrote on social media on Thursday that Russia's military fired six missiles at three settlements in Donetsk. The minister also posted a video and photos.

He said four children were among the injured, and rescuers are searching for five others under the rubble.

Ukraine's Air Force announced on the same day that it shot down 14 out of 20 Iranian-made suicide drones launched by Russia.

Russian forces have been conducting missile and drone attacks continuously for a number of days across Ukraine.

Ukraine's military continues its counteroffensive to recapture land in the country's southern region of Kherson. They have moved troops to the Russian-occupied eastern bank of the Dnipro River, and secured multiple footholds.

The Institute for the Study of War said on Wednesday that "the apparent Russian failure to establish a cohesive command structure among forces" in Kherson continues to degrade Russian morale and combat capabilities.

The US think tank cited the Ukrainian General Staff as reporting that Russian commanders have not properly coordinated with assault units in the east bank about the locations of their own minefields.

The Ukrainian report says this resulted in dozens of casualties among Russian troops last month.

It also reported that elements of a Russian naval infantry brigade are refusing to make an assault on Ukrainian positions, due to a lack of tactical intelligence and other reasons.
